When it comes to finding world-class tattooing locally, one would be hard-pressed to search beyond the talents of Tattooed Empire’s core resident artist and founder, Neal Tyner. Neal began his career in 2009 when he fell enamored with the idea of being a tattoo artist thanks to his dear friend Lokesh Verma of Devil’z Tattooz in India, who influenced and encouraged him to take on the medium. At the beginning of his career, Neal studied with  Gary Gray of Wisconsin, who guided  him through the basics and the foundation of creating depth in tattooing. After studying tattooing in India, Neal was given the opportunity to apprentice in Sweden under world-renowned tattoo artist Jocke Hultman along with Mike & Anna Hultman of Hultman Family Tattoos. It was Jocke who helped Neal develop, and therefore ignite, his passion in Asian-style tattooing. In 2012 he opened Tattooed Empire in Brownsville, Texas, which became a hub for South Texas’ premier tattoo artists. In 2013 & 2014 Neal was invited to attend the Stockholm and Iceland tattoo conventions where he also served as judge. Neal attended New Delhi's 2015 tattoo convention where he had the opportunity to work with Paul booth & Anil Gupta; he served as a judge at this convention as well. Upon entering competitions at the South Texas Tattoo Convention in 2014, 2015, and 2016, Neal’s work was bestowed 10 awards over the span of 2 years including best sleeve and best Asian piece.

Since the onset of his career, Neal's specialty in Asian-style tattooing has beautifully taken on a life and an aesthetic all on its own due to his particularly meticulous attention to flow, movement, contour, and subject usage. Neal is sponsored by Peak Needles and Hustle Butter Deluxe tattoo care. In December of 2016 Neal showcased his talents during his first domestic guest spot at the world-famous Club Tattoo inside the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Neal constantly seeks to develop and cultivate skill as an artist. Everyday brings new inspiration as he realizes that he is a part of a long-standing tradition that embodies art in its most primal and personal forms. In his own words, “I consider myself fortunate to have embarked on this journey; my eyes have been opened to a world full of beautiful art and equally intriguing people.”

Neal extends a heartfelt thanks and humble gratitude to his global network of mentors in addition to the entire Tattooed Empire family for their generosity in support, encouragement, and guidance.
